Roof Access and Rescue
Roof training is designed to provide the knowledge and skills to safely work on inclined surfaces up to 60-degree pitch angle. Beyond 60 degrees requires technically advanced skills and the AS 4488 twin rope method is used. Training covers risk assessment procedures, equipment selection, methods of accessing the working surface, installation of anchor systems and work positioning using rope grabs (rope adjusters) and lanyards. The course will enable you to meet your Workplace OHS obligations.

Training is designed to be realistic and customised to suit your particular situation.
Duration
2 days (valid for roofs up to 60 degree pitch angle) allow 2 x 10 hour days

Qualification
Successful trainees receive a Statement of Attainment for Working at Height (Roof access) which is recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework. All training is mapped to unit MNMG237A Work safely at heights.

- OHS legislative requirements (overview)
- Travel restraint systems
- AS 1891.4 (overview)
- Work positioning systems
- PPE selection, use & basic maintenance
- Fall arrest systems (avoidance)
- Using double hook lanyards
- Rope management & house-keeping
- Installing solid & reliable roof anchorage
- Assessment activity in roof context
Core Skills
- Mobility up and down the roof surface (using a work positioning system)
- Establishing reliable anchorage on the roof surface
Enrolment
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Speak, read and understand the English language (unless accompanied by a skilled translator)
- and be able to understand and accurately follow spoken instructions (which may be given quickly or in windy conditions);
- Fit and healthy for working at height
